West Newbury Dispatcher to Run New York City Marathon to Benefit Boston Children’s Hospital
WEST NEWBURY– Chief Art Reed is pleased to announce that West Newbury Police Dispatcher Kelsey Grenham will be running the New York City Marathon in the fall to benefit the Boston Children’s Hospital.
Grenham, who is a Groveland resident and started as a full-time dispatcher in West Newbury in January, hopes to donate $3,500 through the Miles for Miracles team. This is her first marathon, which takes place on Nov. 6.
“I chose the Miles for Miracles team at Boston Children’s because not only has it been one of my biggest goals to run a marathon, but to do so for an organization that helps others,” Grenham said. “I felt my work as a dispatcher really correlated with running for a hospital, especially for children. From working with families in need, to researching a number of different cures, they do such amazing work at the hospital and I’m happy to be supporting them throughout this year and beyond.”
To help meet her fundraising goal, Grenham invites the community and surrounding neighborhood residents to attend her “Don’t Come Dinner Party” on June 17.
The pretend dinner party invites people to purchase “tickets” to the event by donating to Grenham’s fundraising page. The dispatcher will be sending out invitations to coworkers, friends and family around town in Groveland, West Newbury and Newburyport.
“We applaud Dispatcher Grenham for committing to this noble cause,” Chief Reed said. “We wish her luck during her training and encourage those who can to support her efforts.”
Residents who would like to donate to Grenham’s Miles for Miracles fundraising campaign can do so here.
